Welcome to the Village Green condo association!
Welcome to our world. We are lucky enough to live here or rent here. If you are a new visitor, or prospective buyer surfing to our site then come on in.
When I bought my first house it was at Village Green after coming from Ontario in December of 1993. I lived with my sister and brother-in-law in the south west for six months then I moved into Acadia at the rental units on the corner of Bonaventure and Southland Drives.
I fell completely in love with Acadia and found it very easy to navigate without a car for nearly five years so, with the help of my sister and brother-in-law I was able to look at buying my first house all by myself. We looked all over Acadia at townhouses that I could afford to pay a mortgage on. We drove past the townhouses on 84 Avenue SE fifty times in our travels to other places. We finally asked the realtor who had one townhouse listed what it was listed for and just like the three little bears, “it was just right for me” to pay the mortgage on and just right for my 15 year old daughter Lauren to go to school at Lord Beaverbrook High School, hold a part time job at the A&W on Macleod Trail and 90th SE, and have as an OK address for her friends to visit.
We moved in on a windy cold day in November but we were both very happy to be on the path of home ownership. As we both grew and our lives changed, my daughter Lauren has married and given me a grandson Brayden (the light of my life) and moved back into the townhouse with her husband Jeremy. It is now home for the four of us and we just love it. Brayden and I have played many games of soccer in the back and front yards, blown bubbles by the millions, and in general hung out together and met the neighbours. Bray speaks to everyone who walks by, asks a million questions and expects the answers. Before and after I became Chairman at Village Green in August of 2007 Brayden and I talked to just about everyone in the complex.
This is my second time on the Board of Directors of Village Green condos—my last stint was in the late 1990’s. Then and now as I sit at Board Meetings the same situations come to us regarding the three “P” ’s of Condo Living. People – Parking – Pets. The complex is nearly 40 years old now and I still think it is the most beautiful place on earth. The central grass and treed courtyard (I believe it looks like an emerald when the sun shines and you are lucky enough to have a balcony view—which is most residents) is maintained by our groundskeepers and a group of dedicated volunteers who just love gardening. We try to take an ongoing maintenance approach to the care and up-keep of the complex, keeping things under control without huge expenses.
Many of our older residents have been here for many years and enjoy the quiet courtyard benches, the spacious units, and the close proximity to every thing any of us needs. The younger owners and tenants are very good about remembering the “house rules” and this makes it much easier to have a quiet complex where you can enjoy your unit and the outside areas. So, if you are looking at a new residence with us or already living with us in our beautiful home then we are glad you are here. “Come On In” try us—you will like us.
